(Panhua Park), a newly transformed city green space that blends (Hakka cultural elements) with ecology and sustainability, has been awarded the 2025 城市工程品質金質獎 (City Engineering Quality Gold Award) and is scheduled to officially open on December 27, 2025. 墨新聞 MORE News+1

(Panhua Park Opening & Ecological Carnival),” will run from 09:30 to 17:00 at 盤花公園 (No. 215, Tongmeng 2nd Rd., Sanmin District) and invites residents to explore nature, culture, and community activities. Facebook+1

Cultural ecology and green design
Panhua Park was redesigned from the old 三民一號公園 (Sanmin Park No. 1) beginning in June 2024, with a focus on restoring severely saline soil, reducing hard surfaces, and increasing green coverage. The project planted 76 trees and over 47,000 shrubs to create layered vegetation and year-round interest, while integrating Hakka cultural themes—most notably the traditional (Hakka “Panhua” floral offering) concept—into landscape design and public art. 墨新聞 MORE News+1
Highlights include:
(Art Display Windows) made from repurposed park structures.
(Ceramic Mural) illustrating local Hakka settlement history.
(Cocoon Pathway) reflecting bamboo craft and regeneration.
(Mainline Timber Walk) evokes Hakka migration routes.
(Tree Pavilion) featuring laser-cut motifs based on paper-cut art and Hakka poetry. MORE News+1
The makeover also added play and fitness facilities, energy-efficient lighting, and a rainwater collection and reuse system, aligning with low-maintenance, low-energy, and low-carbon goals.

Opening carnival programming
The ecological carnival emphasizes family participation and cultural engagement. Planned features include park walking tours, ecology and culture workshops, handicraft booths, and a Panhua tea ceremony, alongside an on-site local market. Games such as 客語闖關 (Hakka language challenges) teach children about ecosystems and Hakka culture, and activities like traditional bamboo firecracker experiences and dice-casting games offer prizes.
City officials say Panhua Park will serve as a new urban landmark that connects the Love River heart, Longzili Hakka settlement, New Hakka Cultural Park, and Zhongdu Wetland Park, creating a continuous water-and-green corridor that strengthens public access to nature and deepens local cultural identity.
