TAINAN — The 2026 Tainan Dessert Festival (台南甜點節) kicked off with a massive turnout this weekend, recording over 70,000 visitors on its first day. The event, which blends gourmet food with the city’s signature “light travel” (輕旅行) style, has successfully transformed several historic alleys into an open-air confectionery market.

Local organizers noted that the festival’s success is largely driven by a mix of traditional Tainan flavors and innovative modern pastries. Beyond the food, the event has created a significant spillover effect for nearby attractions, with hotels and small shops in the city center reporting nearly full capacity. To manage the crowds, the city has deployed additional shuttle services and designated several pedestrian-only zones to ensure a smooth flow for tourists exploring the various “dessert stations” (甜點站) scattered throughout the district.
