KAOHSIUNG — Police in Kaohsiung arrested two wanted suspects after a brief vehicle chase in Lingya District (苓雅區), breaking a car window to detain the pair and uncovering drugs inside the vehicle.

The incident occurred late March 16, when officers on patrol spotted a white sedan driving without headlights near Siwei 3rd Road (四維三路). Police attempted to stop the vehicle, and the 47-year-old driver initially appeared to comply before suddenly accelerating and fleeing.

Officers pursued the car for about one kilometer before intercepting it near Rende Road (仁德路), where they used batons to break a window and remove both occupants from the vehicle.

Police later confirmed that both men were wanted suspects, one on drug-related charges and the other for robbery. A search of the vehicle and passenger revealed narcotics and an etomidate vape cartridge.

Authorities said the suspects will face charges under the Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act (毒品危害防制條例) as well as public endangerment provisions. The driver is also subject to additional penalties, including license suspension and vehicle seizure, for traffic violations during the attempted escape.

In a separate incident earlier the same day, police in Cianjhen District (前鎮區) arrested a 24-year-old woman during a routine stop for illegal parking. Officers identified her as a wanted drug suspect and discovered vape devices and etomidate cartridges in her possession. A rapid drug test returned positive, and she was also accused of driving under the influence.

Police said the cases reflect ongoing enforcement efforts targeting drug use and trafficking in the city.
