KAOHSIUNG — A woman was found dead in a pond beside Zhuliao Road (竹寮路) in Dashu District (大樹區) on Tuesday morning, with police investigating whether she accidentally rode a scooter into the water.
A passerby reported seeing the woman floating in the pond at about 10 a.m. Police and firefighters recovered her, but she showed no signs of life.
Police said the woman, believed to be about 70, was wearing a motorcycle helmet. She had no identification with her.
Investigators were searching the pond for a motorcycle and have not determined how she entered the water. Prosecutors have been notified, and the cause of death remains under investigation.
