KAOHSIUNG — Kaohsiung City says it has completed the installation of large interactive touchscreens in 5,000 classrooms across its public school system, part of a NT$450 million push to expand digital learning in both urban and rural areas.
According to the Education Bureau, the smart classroom system combines classroom devices with cloud-based teaching platforms and AI tools, including Edcafe AI and Microsoft Copilot. Officials said the system will support live interaction and group discussions, while also strengthening teachers’ use of AI in the classroom.

According to a press release by the city government, the first rollout was completed by the end of March, with locations for installation chosen to help reduce the digital gap between schools in different parts of the city.
Mayor Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁), Kaohsiung City Council Speaker Kang Yu-cheng (康裕成), Legislator Lee Kun-tze (李昆澤), and several city councilors visited Dashu Elementary School (大樹國小) and Kaisyuan Elementary School (凱旋國小) on Monday to observe how the new equipment is being used in class.
The city also announced plans to spend NT$776 million this year to purchase 55,000 devices, to reach a one-device-per-student ratio by 2029.
