KAOHSIUNG — Taiwan’s Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) opened its new season Monday, with the TSG Hawks launching their third top-tier campaign at home against the Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions at Chengcing Lake Baseball Stadium.

The Hawks capped the opener with a 7–4 win over the Lions, giving Kaohsiung fans a victory to start the new season.

Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁) attended the opener alongside TSG Group Chairman Hsieh Yu-min (謝裕民) and Chairman Wang Jiong-fen (王炯棻), taking part in pregame ceremonies and throwing the ceremonial first pitch.

The Hawks’ home opener drew a strong crowd, with infield tickets selling out. The city said more than 10,000 fans packed the stands with banners and noisemakers as the stadium filled with chants and horns.

City officials said ongoing upgrades to Chengcing Lake Baseball Stadium will improve both player facilities and the fan experience. The Kaohsiung City Government has allocated almost NT$375 million for renovations, including NT$61.5 million in subsidies from the Sports Administration and some NT$314 million in city funding. Improvements cover seating, locker rooms, bullpens, lighting, and fire safety systems.

Discounted tickets for students will continue this season, with entry priced at NT$50 to encourage attendance.

The Hawks have adopted “Together We Fight” as their slogan for the year, setting a goal of reaching the playoffs and contending for the championship.

During the regular season, free shuttle buses will operate to Chengcing Lake from the Weiwuying and New Zuoying (High-Speed Rail) MRT Stations. Additional transport details are available on the Kaohsiung City Government Sports Development Bureau Facebook page.
