KAOHSIUNG — Kaohsiung’s Tourism Bureau is reportedly offering bus fare subsidies of up to NT$4,500 for group trips to five districts along the city’s western coast.

Under the program, groups of at least 15 people can apply for the subsidy if they visit designated attractions in Cieding (茄萣), Yongan (永安), Mituo (彌陀), Ziguan (梓官), and Linyuan (林園), and include a local meal as part of the itinerary.

The campaign is designed to encourage more visitors to explore Kaohsiung’s coastal fishing ports, seafood, wetlands, and natural sites. Among the destinations highlighted in the promotional material are Ziguan’s Oucuo Fishing Port (蚵子寮漁港) and Singda Harbor (興達港) in Cieding, both known for fresh seafood markets. Yongan is also being promoted for its grouper industry.

Other sites include Luodi Mountain Nature Park (漯底山自然公園) in Mituo, known for its badlands terrain and former military installations, the Cieding Wetlands (茄萣濕地), which attract migratory birds in autumn and winter, and the Linyuan Mangrove Area (林園紅樹林), where visitors can observe wetland ecology and then continue to Linyuan Old Street (林園老街).

The Tourism Bureau is also promoting independent travel through the Kaohsiung GO! app, which allows users to complete missions at designated locations in the five districts for a chance to enter a prize drawing for Kaohsiung Bear merchandise.

According to the promotional material, the bus subsidy program will run through June 2026, or until funding is exhausted.
