KAOHSIUNG — Nantzikeng Sports Center (楠仔坑運動中心) in Nanzih District (楠梓) began trial operations Sunday.

The new facility, at 168 Cinan Road (旗楠路), includes a 50-meter heated swimming pool, hot pools, a spa pool, and a children’s water play area.

The first floor also has a multipurpose court with four badminton courts and one full basketball court.

The second floor includes a fitness center, weight-training and cardio equipment, and seven group-class studios.

During the trial period, the center is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The fitness center and swimming pool are closed for cleaning from noon to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The center said visitors should register as members before using the facilities. Trial classes include aerobic exercise, TRX, aerial yoga, Pilates, basic yoga, ball sports, and swimming courses.

The facility is part of Kaohsiung’s wider effort to expand public sports infrastructure in local districts. City documents say the Nantzikeng project converted the former Nanzih sports park swimming pool area into a new public sports center under an operate-transfer model.

Local reports said the center is expected to serve residents in northern Kaohsiung, including Nanzih, Ciaotou (橋頭), Gangshan (岡山), and nearby areas.
