KAOHSIUNG — A 24-year-old man surnamed Chen (陳) is being investigated for public endangerment after a suspected drunk-driving crash in Neimen District (內門區) on Friday morning, police said.

Police said Chen was driving on Taiwan Provincial Highway 3 (台3線) at about 7 a.m. when his car collided with a scooter traveling in the same direction. His vehicle then went out of control and crashed into a roadside shop.

The shop sells prepared banquet-style dishes associated with a well-known local zongpu chef (總鋪師), and the crash disrupted business on the first day of the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, reports said.

Police said the driver had a breath-alcohol reading of 0.64 mg/L. He was referred for investigation under public endangerment laws, while the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
