KAOHSIUNG — Police handling a traffic accident in Fongshan District (鳳山區) found themselves involved in another collision when a suspected drunk driver rear-ended their parked patrol car on Oct. 25.

The crash occurred at about 11:30 a.m. outside 112 Zihciang 2nd Road (自強二路). Officers from Wujia Police Station (五甲派出所) were attending a separate accident and providing traffic protection when their vehicle was struck, according to CNA’s report. Nobody was injured.

The driver, a 44-year-old woman surnamed Weng (翁), registered a breath alcohol concentration of 0.28 milligrams per liter, police said. The officer driving the patrol car tested negative for alcohol.

Know News reported that Weng stepped out of her car barefoot and had reportedly consumed a can of beer at home before driving.

Police referred the case to prosecutors on suspicion of a public-danger offense related to drink-driving, and the case remains under investigation.
