KAOHSIUNG — A heated indoor pool, a gym with 95 exercise machines, and courts for basketball, badminton and pickleball are among the facilities at Siaogang Sports Center (小港運動中心), which officially opens Monday, Nov. 2.

The center began trial operations on Oct. 26, with free trial access continuing through Sunday, Nov. 1, according to Liberty Times’ report, republished by Yahoo.

Located inside Siaogang Forest Park (小港森林公園), the three-story center combines swimming, fitness training, and indoor sports.

The ground floor houses a 25-meter, six-lane heated pool, including one lane reserved for women. There are also children’s and hydrotherapy pools, hot and cold pools, and separate men’s and women’s steam rooms and saunas.

Center chief executive Tu Kai-hsiang (涂凱翔) told Liberty Times that a drowning-detection system alerts lifeguards when it detects someone remaining submerged for more than 20 seconds or showing signs of struggling.

Upstairs, the main gym covers more than 300 ping — approximately 990 square meters — and includes 18 treadmills alongside other cardio and strength-training equipment. A women-only training area and studios for activities such as reformer Pilates, aerial yoga and TRX are also provided.

The third-floor sports hall can be configured for two basketball courts, 12 badminton courts or six pickleball courts. Table tennis and a free-weight training area are also available.

From Nov. 2, standard pool admission will cost NT$100, with student tickets at NT$80 and concession tickets at NT$50. Gym admission will cost NT$50 per hour, or NT$40 for students and NT$25 for eligible concession users. Classes and court bookings have separate arrangements.

Liberty Times also reported a daily 8–10 a.m. free-access period for eligible Kaohsiung-registered older residents, low-income households and qualifying CPC and Taipower employees. Visitors should confirm eligibility and required documentation with the operator.

The center’s official website lists its address as #1, Songyuan 8th Road (松園八路1號), Siaogang District, and regular operating hours as 6 a.m.–10 p.m. daily. Course registration, facility reservations and fee information are available online. The telephone number is 07-807-0222.
