The KMT says the events aim to build unity ahead of the 2026 local elections and the 2028 presidential race, with the goal of returning the party to power.

KAOHSIUNG — The Kuomintang (KMT) on Friday announced that its 2025 party chair election forums will be held across Taiwan from Oct. 7 to Oct. 14, with eight regional policy presentation events scheduled in total.

The first forum will take place in Pingtung County on Oct. 7 at 10 a.m. at the Jia Qing Banquet Hall (嘉慶喜宴會場), followed by a second session the same day at 3:30 p.m. in Taichung City.

Additional date and locations for forums in southern Taiwan include the Tainan City, Chongwen & Chongcheng Community Center (崇文暨崇成里聯合活動中心) on Oct. 8, at 10 a.m., and Kaohsiung City’s Junyi Zhengqin Activity Center (君毅正勤活動中心) on Oct. 13, at 10 a.m.

In addition to the regional forums, the party said it has reached an agreement with all six candidates to hold a televised debate hosted by KMT headquarters on Oct. 5.

There are six candidates registered for the election, but some reports indicate former Taipei mayor 郝龍斌 (Hau Lung-bin) appears to be the favorite.

The KMT is urging all party members to take part in the forums, which will allow them to hear directly from the six candidates about their visions and commitments for the party’s future. The party said the events aim to build unity ahead of the 2026 local elections and the 2028 presidential race, with the goal of returning to power.
