KAOHSIUNG – The city’s MRT Yellow Line has cleared a major approval stage at the Ministry of the Interior, confirming urban-planning changes for three stations: Niaosung (鳥松), Chang Gung Memorial Hospital (長庚醫院), and Minzu (民族).

Y2 Niaosung (鳥松) will gain a new 1.9-hectare MRT development zone south of Shennong Road. The site will allow up to 30,000 pings of mixed-use space, including housing, retail, and community services. The Kaohsiung City Government MRT Bureau says the new buildout will connect directly to the Wenshan commercial area and create a new growth hub in Niaosung with increased transit access and pedestrian flow.

Y4 Chang Gung Memorial Hospital Station (長庚醫院站) will include a direct underground passageway to the hospital’s B1 level. Riders will be able to exit the station and reach the medical campus without crossing traffic or being exposed to weather conditions.

Y10 Minzu Station (民族) will serve as the transfer point for the Yellow Line and Taiwan Railway (TRA). The plan includes linked underground corridors that tie Y10 to TRA Minzu Station, creating a walk-through interchange for commuters heading to Kaohsiung Main Station (高雄車站). A future joint development will add workspace for young professionals and start-ups, positioning the area as a key feature of the Kaohsiung Main Station renewal zone.

City officials say the three approvals lock in the Yellow Line as the backbone of east-west mobility and set the stage for linked commercial and residential growth across the corridor.
