KAOHSIUNG — Japanese entertainer Mizukawa Sumire (水川菫/水川スミレ), a former adult film actress who announced her retirement at the end of 2025, drew attention in Taiwan after appearing in Kaohsiung in late February and greeting fans in Taiwanese on social media.

According to posts shared on Feb. 27 and 28, Mizukawa visited southern Taiwan for work, uploading photos that appeared to show recognizable local signage, betel nut stand lighting, and Taiwan Lottery storefronts. She also posted a message written in Taiwanese, saying, “明仔載我佇高雄最後一工,” meaning “Tomorrow is my last day in Kaohsiung,” and asking fans to “take care” of her during the visit.

Online responses were largely welcoming, with commenters praising her use of Taiwanese and noting landmarks in the background of her photos, including references to the area near the 85 Sky Tower (高雄85大樓). Some users remarked that her casual styling and glasses made her appear like an ordinary visitor, adding to the viral appeal of the posts.

Mizukawa, who debuted about a decade ago and cultivated a mature on-screen persona, surprised followers when she stepped back from Japan’s adult film industry on Dec. 31, 2025. Recent appearances abroad have fueled speculation that she is expanding her entertainment activities outside Japan. Her brief Kaohsiung visit, combined with the use of local language, was widely interpreted by fans as an effort to connect more directly with Taiwanese audiences.
