KAOHSIUNG — Kaohsiung is marking World Earth Day and World Public Transport Day with a monthlong YouBike promotion aimed at encouraging more residents to choose low-carbon travel.

The city’s Transportation Bureau said the “Ride for the Earth” campaign runs from now through May 17. Participants who complete the required Instagram tasks through @youbike_tw, including uploading and sharing their carbon-cutting travel moments, will be entered into a drawing for electronic gift vouchers worth NT$500.

The bureau said 60 winners will be selected. The vouchers can be used at a range of retailers, including big-box stores, beauty brands, and well-known restaurant chains.

City officials said cutting carbon emissions should be part of daily life rather than just a slogan, adding that choosing greener transportation is one concrete way residents can help the planet.
