Liuhe Night Market to Stay Open in Daytime Hours During Lunar New Year Holiday

KAOHSIUNG — Kaohsiung’s Liuhe International Tourist Night Market (六合國際觀光夜市) will keep its vendor stalls in place throughout the Lunar New Year holiday period, allowing both returning residents and visitors to experience the festive atmosphere even during daytime hours.

According to the Liuhe Night Market Development Association, stalls will remain set up from Feb. 17 through Feb. 25 rather than being dismantled during the day as usual. Organizers said the decision was aimed at giving people who are back in Kaohsiung for the holidays a chance to revisit the iconic market environment outside of its typical evening operating hours, while also easing the workload for vendors who would otherwise need to repeatedly set up and take down equipment during the busy holiday period.

Police from the Kaohsiung City Police Department’s Sinsing Precinct (新興分局, Xinxing Fenju) cautioned that the continuous stall setup will narrow road space in the Liuhe area. They urged motorists to slow down and follow on-site traffic guidance. Authorities also encouraged visitors to check real-time traffic updates on official traffic information platforms or Google Maps, and to consider using public transportation during peak holiday periods.

The extended setup is expected to boost foot traffic during one of the city’s busiest tourism seasons, reinforcing Liuhe’s role as one of southern Taiwan’s most recognizable street-food destinations while giving holiday travelers an accessible way to engage with Kaohsiung’s night market culture even outside its traditional evening hours.
