Unsurprisingly to many who drive to Kenting and back frequently, news reports confirmed that many of the fixed poles along the route were not functional, but decoys used to deter speeding. In fact, across Pingtung County’s roughly 1,500 kilometers of roads, fewer than 40 fixed camera poles have, or had, functional radar units. Traffic police said removing “unreasonable” camera locations has helped cut fixed-camera speeding citations by more than 60 percent in 2025, from more than 100,000 violations to about 40,000 cases. Some might say fewer cameras obviously means fewer citations. Police said the more important measure is that traffic accidents along the same stretch have also decreased.
The city urged fans to use public transportation, shuttle buses, or nearby MRT stations for pick-up and drop-off instead of driving to the stadium.

Drivers pressed for a fare review, arguing that Kaohsiung’s delayed-time meter remains out of step with other cities. According to Kaohsiung’s official taxi fare table, the meter adds NT$5 every 100 seconds when the speed falls below 5 kilometers per hour. TVBS noted that Taipei uses NT$5 every 60 seconds, and that Kaohsiung drivers say the gap matters more now that concerts, tourism and congestion often make trips slower and more labor-intensive.
Chen says the city should study the possibility of reconnecting the old rail bridges on both the north and south sides of the area. Chen said the Public Works Bureau’s Parks Office had been asked to evaluate the engineering requirements and cost of such a project.
The trees, known in Chinese as fenghuangmu (鳳凰木), usually bloom from May to July. Their bright orange-red flowers have made them a familiar sight in southern Taiwan.
Tourism Bureau Director Kao Min-lin (高閔琳) said eastern Kaohsiung combines mountain landscapes with Hakka, Hoklo, Indigenous, and new immigrant cultures. She said the tours use guided visits, hands-on activities, and local agricultural experiences to help visitors better understand community life and local stories.
Chen said Guanyinshan is one of Dashu’s major natural and recreational areas. The city has budgeted about NT$30 million for environmental improvements and facility upgrades in the area, including trail maintenance, public facility repairs, improvements to nearby spaces, and stronger safety measures.
The Liberty Times reports that the route will use Liouguei’s winding mountain roads, with sharp turns and changing terrain expected to test drivers’ handling skills and reaction times. Spectators will be able to watch the cars up close and experience the sound and speed of the competition, organizers said.
Chen said Cishan’s Gushan Park (鼓山公園) reflects both the district’s strengths and its current limitations. While the area has a rich historical background, he said, its overall tourism theme remains somewhat scattered.
