PINGTUNG — The Pingtung County Remote-Control Drone Flight Field (屏東縣遙控無人機飛行場) is one of Taiwan’s most important certification sites for drone pilots and a rare open-access space shared by enthusiasts from across the island, according to the Pingtung County Drone Association (屏東縣無人機協會).

Areas in red are NO FLY for drones, while drone use is allowed (with conditions) in the green areas. Yellow is a military zone; restrictions apply.

In a Facebook post by association administrator Jacky Chen (陳杰奇), the group emphasized that Zhutian Flight Field (竹田飛行場) is more than just a recreational space. It is a place where veteran model aircraft pilots pass down their experience to newcomers, fostering a culture of mentorship and shared learning.

Chen wrote that the association views the site as a community space built on “inheritance” (傳承), where knowledge, aviation culture, and mutual respect are carried forward. He noted that the field has become increasingly popular in recent years, attracting drone hobbyists from across Taiwan.

The association stressed its “guests are friends” philosophy, welcoming visitors while also actively promoting flight safety rules and field etiquette. Senior pilots and association officers regularly lead by example, offering guidance and technical exchange to newer flyers.

However, Chen also reminded members that “without rules, there is no order,” urging all users to respect management guidelines so the field can remain safe, sustainable, and open for long-term use.

He encouraged members to share feedback and suggestions, promising that the association would respond promptly. Chen also asked the community to show support and appreciation for association leaders and team heads who volunteer their time to manage operations.

“Zhutian Flight Field is not just a place to fly,” Chen wrote. “It’s where we grow, learn, and create shared memories.”
