PINGTUNG — Pingtung County will build a new large-scale leisure park in Gaoshu Township (高樹鄉), tentatively named “Pingtung Beiye Park” (屏東北野公園), positioning it as a major new destination for camping, outdoor recreation, and ecological tourism, according to information released by the Pingtung County Government’s Department of Transportation and Tourism.

Construction on the approximately 12.95-hectare site began in January. The project will include multiple camping formats such as traditional field camping areas, luxury “glamping” zones, and designated spaces for camper vans. Plans also call for a stargazing theater and a central plaza that could host future events branded as the “Beiye Festival.”
Officials said the design will preserve existing woodland and natural landscapes while integrating riverside amenities along the Laonong River (荖濃溪). The park is envisioned as a multifunctional space combining environmental education, ecological observation, and leisure tourism.

Beyond camping facilities, the park will feature orchards, open grassland areas, and themed installations designed as photo spots, including cave-style structures and a torii-inspired gate feature. A visitor center will also be built to support tourism services and programming.

The county government aims for the project to become a new northern Pingtung recreational landmark, following earlier park developments in Jiuru Township. By maintaining natural terrain while adding curated outdoor infrastructure, planners hope to attract both domestic travelers and longer-stay visitors seeking immersive nature experiences.

The project is currently scheduled for completion in 2027, though final timelines may depend on construction progress and environmental review stages.
