KAOHSIUNG — A routine document delivery turned into a multi-car accident on the morning of April 23 when a police vehicle swerved out of control on Jhongjheng 3rd Road, striking three oncoming cars. The driver, a 51-year-old officer, was rushed to the hospital following what authorities believe was a sudden medical episode.

The China Times reports that the officer, surnamed Wu (吳), is a member of the Gangshan (岡山) Police Precinct. He was driving a precinct transport vehicle toward the Traffic Police Corps headquarters to deliver official documents.

According to preliminary reports from the Sinsing (新興) Police Precinct, Wu was traveling along Jhongjheng 3rd Road when his vehicle suddenly drifted across the center line. The police car collided with three private sedans that were stopped in the opposite lane, waiting to make a left turn.

Fortunately, the occupants of the three vehicles struck by the police car did not report any major injuries and did not require hospitalization.
