KAOHSIUNG — Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts (高雄市立美術館, KMFA) has opened “About That March: Things I Remember,” an exhibition that frames the gallery as a writer’s study, using art and literature to revisit March 1947 and the long shadow of martial law-era silence. The exhibition runs from January 17 to March 1, 2026, according to KMFA’s official listing.

The show’s historical anchor is Kaohsiung’s own 228 timeline, including the violence associated with the old Kaohsiung City Government building (now Kaohsiung Museum of History 高雄市立歷史博物館) in Yancheng District (鹽埕區). A Kaohsiung Museum of History exhibit description notes that gunfire tied to the military crackdown in Kaohsiung on March 6, 1947, marked the start of a chain of casualties in the city’s 228 events.

KMFA says the exhibition draws on nine key collection works and related materials, including Lin Yu-shan (林玉山)’s Handing over Horses (獻馬圖) and preparatory sketches, an artwork later kept out of public view for decades amid political upheaval, as well as Gazing at Jade Mountain from Ali Mountain by Chen Cheng-po (陳澄波).
