KAOHSIUNG — Parts of Kaohsiung will face a 12-hour water outage and widespread pressure reductions on Sunday, March 22, as maintenance work linked to power infrastructure forces a temporary shutdown at the Chengcing Lake Water Treatment Plant (澄清湖淨水場).
According to information released by legislator Lin Tai-hua (林岱樺) citing Taiwan Water Corporation (台灣自來水公司), the disruption is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and is tied to Taiwan Power Company (台灣電力公司) work to underground overhead transmission lines, which will require a coordinated power shutdown at the facility.
More than 480,000 households across the city are expected to be affected, though impacts will vary by location.
Full water stoppages will affect parts of three districts:
- Sanmin District (三民區), including areas such as Benguan, Dingciang, Dingjin, Baomin, and Baolong villages
- Fengshan District (鳳山區), including Jhongxiao, Wuching, Sinwu, Jhonghe, Jhongyi, Wuhan, and Sinciang (west of the freeway)
- Niaosung District (鳥松區), including Dahua, Mengli, and Niaosung villages
Reduced water pressure is expected across a broader area:
- Entire districts: Sinsing District (新興區), Renwu District (仁武區)
- Partial areas: Fengshan (鳳山區), Sanmin (三民區), Zuoying (左營區), Cianjhen (前鎮區), and Gushan (鼓山區)

Officials advised residents to store water in advance and to turn off water pumps during the outage to prevent equipment damage. Water pressure may take additional time to fully return, particularly in high-rise buildings or at the ends of supply lines.
Residents with questions can contact Taiwan Water’s 24-hour service line at 1910.
