The Kaohsiung City Government said the Sunshine Island Vibe Fest will return March 6–8, 2026, with activities planned at Central Park and Kaohsiung Main Station, marking the festival’s first dual-venue format.

City officials said the expanded setup is intended to showcase Kaohsiung’s cultural diversity through a mix of music, markets, and exchange activities. The city said the festival’s debut edition drew more than 140,000 visitors, and organizers expect this year’s program to be larger in scale, with additional booths, performances, and international-themed market offerings.

AIT Kaohsiung Director Neil Gibson joined Kaohsiung City Mayor Chen Chi-mai in announcing an expanded “Summer Island Vibe Festival” to be held in early March.

The city said representative offices and international groups are expected to participate, including those connected to the United States, Japan, the Philippines, and Thailand. Officials said the event aims to bring together local residents, new immigrants, and migrant workers in public spaces to promote cross-cultural interaction.

Mayor Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁) said Kaohsiung’s port-city history has long linked it to overseas partners through trade, education, and cultural ties, and that the festival is intended to serve as a platform for strengthening those connections. The city said multiple departments, including agencies responsible for education, social welfare, and labor, are expected to coordinate services and programming tied to the event.
