Crowds turned out at the Kaohsiung Arena on Friday as a spring travel fair and an AI smart home appliance expo opened simultaneously on the first day of the 228 Peace Memorial Day holiday.
The project will include multiple camping formats such as traditional field camping areas, luxury “glamping” zones, and designated spaces for camper vans. Plans also call for a stargazing theater and a central plaza that could host future events branded as the “Beiye Festival.”
Officials say flexible management and inter-agency coordination will be key to navigating the remainder of the dry season without major disruptions to farming activity in southern Taiwan.
According to the Kaohsiung Public Works Bureau’s Construction Office, Jiuru 4th Road between Huaan Street and Cuihua Road, along with Hexi 1st Road between Housheng Road and Maka Road, will be closed from March 2 through June 30. Drivers are advised to prepare alternative routes in advance to minimize disruption.
Her decision came one day after she initially indicated she would not exit the race, a stance that drew widespread criticism online and from political observers.
The selected route largely follows the former surface rail corridor that was placed underground during Kaohsiung’s decade-long railway undergrounding program.
