KAOHSIUNG — Kaohsiung Port on Sunday, January 25, handled back-to-back cruise ship calls, with AIDA Cruises’ AIDAdiva making its first-ever visit to the port earlier in the day before departing for Hong Kong, followed in the evening by Star Cruises’ Star Navigator, which arrived on a home-port voyage carrying mostly Taiwanese passengers bound for the Philippines.

To mark the AIDAdiva’s inaugural visit, the Kaohsiung Port Authority held a water-spray welcome ceremony and presented the captain with a commemorative plaque. The port also arranged traditional Indigenous welcome dances and calligraphy activities for passengers. The vessel brought 1,970 passengers ashore.

In the afternoon, Star Navigator arrived as part of its ongoing home-port operations in Kaohsiung. The vessel, operated by Star Cruises, has been based in the city since its first Kaohsiung call on November 16 last year and is running a roughly two-and-a-half-month home-port schedule. The ship was scheduled to depart shortly before midnight for a voyage to the Philippines, offering southern Taiwan travelers additional cruise itinerary options.

According to the Kaohsiung Port Authority, completing both a port-of-call operation and a home-port turnaround within a single day reflects the port’s improving cruise infrastructure and operational coordination, as the city continues positioning itself as a key cruise gateway in southern Taiwan.
