KAOHSIUNG — UPS has opened a new operations center in Nanzih District (楠梓), expanding its logistics capacity in southern Taiwan as northern Kaohsiung continues to draw investment from semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, and aerospace suppliers.
The company said the new facility doubles the size and parcel-processing capacity of its southern Taiwan operations.
UPS said the center will serve customers in Gangshan Industrial Park, Gangshan Beizhou Industrial Park, Nanzi Technology Park, and Renwu Industrial Park, all of which are part of the industrial corridor developing around northern Kaohsiung.
The company said exporters in those areas will now have collection cutoff times extended by up to three hours for shipments to the United States.
Sam Hung, managing director of UPS Taiwan, said the new center was opened as more companies expand in and around Kaohsiung, particularly in high-tech industries.
“Many companies are now expanding in the south, especially in and around Kaohsiung,” Hung said. “UPS is here to support this growth and ensure our customers have the global connectivity they need.”
Kaohsiung Economic Development Bureau Director-General Liao Tai-hsiang said the facility reflects stronger demand for international logistics services from high-value industries in the city.
Liao said nearby clusters in Gangshan, Nanzih, Renwu, and surrounding areas include companies in semiconductors, advanced manufacturing and aerospace, and require more efficient cross-border shipping links.
The opening also points to broader international business confidence in northern Kaohsiung, where technology and manufacturing investment have increased alongside the city’s Southern Taiwan Semiconductor S-Corridor policy.
UPS said the U.S. remains Taiwan’s largest export market, accounting for more than 32% of Taiwan’s exports in the year to May.
The Kaohsiung center follows UPS’ opening of a major logistics center in Taoyuan in March.
