Kaohsiung’s Transportation Bureau (高雄市交通局) has launched trial operations of its “Happy Shared Bus” service in Taoyuan (桃源) and Namaxia (那瑪夏), offering free van rides during the testing period to help residents reach school, clinics, and government services.

The bureau says traditional bus routes struggle in these large, sparsely populated districts. The new service uses a point-to-point reservation system, allowing passengers to board or exit at any location within the service area while paying only standard bus fares once official service begins.
Officials say the trial will be adjusted based on ridership, with full operations expected early next year. Residents may reserve rides through local offices, community centers, or by calling 0800-660-696 or using the LINE account “高雄GO.”
