KAOHSIUNG — With the Democratic Progressive Party’s Kaohsiung mayoral primary entering its final stretch, four DPP lawmakers are intensifying outreach efforts through policy events, street canvassing, and community meetings as they compete for the party’s nomination.

Legislator Lin Dai-hua (林岱樺) is touting her second policy briefing under the theme “Love Kaohsiung, Good Living,” outlining proposals that emphasize the use of artificial intelligence to address long-standing urban challenges. Lin said AI applications could help tackle issues related to housing, transportation, long-term care, and public services. Her proposals included real-time parking information systems, traffic redesigns at major interchanges, expanded public housing construction, smart agricultural machinery cooperatives, air-filtering streetlights, and road condition detection systems installed on buses and garbage trucks.

Meanwhile, legislator Chiu Yi-ying (邱議瑩) launched a motorcade canvassing and market visits in Fengshan District (鳳山區), accompanied by local city councilors. She said the remaining weeks before the primary are critical, and that direct engagement with voters is essential to understanding grassroots concerns. Chiu expressed confidence that the DPP would ultimately select a strong candidate capable of winning the general election.

Legislator Hsu Chih-chieh (許智傑), whose political base is also in Fengshan, announced plans to hold his first major rally on Dec. 21, followed by market visits, motorcade tours, and neighborhood outreach activities.

Legislator Lai Jui-lung (賴瑞隆) said he will continue canvassing in various formats and host additional local briefings to hear voters’ views directly.

Outside the DPP primary, Kuomintang (KMT) legislator Ko Chih-en (柯志恩), who is expected to easily get the nod from the KMT to run as their candidate in the Kaohsiung mayoral race, has been meeting with local organizations and community groups to gather public opinion.
