KAOHSIUNG — A Kaohsiung man whose scooter license plate had been suspended allegedly came up with a simple replacement: he removed the address plate from his home and attached it to the back of his scooter.
Police were not impressed.

The 46-year-old man, surnamed Su (蘇), was stopped in Cieding District (茄萣) at about 4 p.m. on Wednesday after officers noticed that the scooter in front of them did not have a normal license plate.
Instead, the rear of the scooter displayed a blue-green address plate from Baisha Road (白砂路) in Cieding.
Police said Su had previously had his scooter plate suspended for riding without a license. Worried that riding without a plate would be too obvious, he allegedly attached his home address plate to the vehicle.
Officers said the unusual “plate” made the scooter stand out in traffic, leading them to stop Su on Cieding Road Sec. 2.
Police said Su appeared nervous during questioning and admitted he had recently used drugs. A saliva test later came back positive, police said.
Su was cited for traffic violations, and the scooter was impounded.
He was also referred to the Qiaotou District Prosecutors Office on suspicion of public endangerment for drug-impaired driving.
Hunei police urged drivers not to ride or drive without a license, without proper plates, or after using drugs, saying such behavior puts both the driver and other road users at risk.
