Chiu said that if elected mayor, she would construct a levee-top expressway running parallel to the Gaoping River (高屏溪堤岸), forming the backbone of a proposed “30-minute Greater Kaohsiung Living Circle.” The corridor would link Kaohsiung (高雄), Pingtung (屏東), and Tainan (台南) into a unified “Southern Taiwan Metropolitan Region.”

A speaker at a DPP mayoral candidate’s rally told supporters to adjust their answers in political polls. Critics say that’s cheating. The candidate says it was just an explanation of how polls work.

Once buoyed by strong early polling and factional backing, legislator Lin Dai-hua’s (林岱樺), decline has reportedly left the DPP’s Kaohsiung network — known as the Chu faction (菊系), linked to former Mayor Chen Chu (陳菊) — divided and unmotivated to unite behind a single candidate.
