Spring Holiday Express Bus Taipei–Kaohsiung Fare Cut to “Best Case Discount” of NT$361 for Frequent Riders

KAOHSIUNG — Taiwan’s Highway Bureau is promoting spring holiday discounts on intercity express buses, saying operations have been smooth so far and seat supply remains ample. The program applies to dozens of medium- and long-distance routes, with a base fare discount advertised at roughly 40% off (i.e., paying 60% of the listed fare) during the Lunar New Year travel period.

The agency also highlights TPASS 2.0 “frequent rider” rebates that can be layered on top of the discounted fares, which is how the widely shared “NT$361 Taipei–Kaohsiung” example is calculated. In that example, the discounted fare is NT$515 (from an original NT$865), and additional rebates for frequent use reduce the effective cost further. The TPASS 2.0 platform describes the program as a monthly, ride-count-based rebate system covering city buses and highway/intercity buses under defined conditions.
