Kaohsiung City is fast-tracking construction of its newest public housing project in Daliao District, combining smart-home features with green building design. Deputy Mayor Lin Chin-jung (林欽榮) unveiled a model unit this week, highlighting a “smart and secure” residential complex designed for comfort, accessibility, and sustainability. The project is ahead of schedule by 4.36% and set for completion in the third quarter of 2026, with move-in beginning December 2026.

The Daliao Social Housing Project, managed by the Water Resources Bureau, features two 10-story buildings with two basement levels, providing 384 units in various layouts — studios, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments. All units are for rent only, offering affordable housing options near the Orange Line’s Daliao MRT Station (Exit 2).

Deputy Mayor Lin said each unit was designed with ample natural light and ventilation, soundproof flooring, and accessible bathrooms equipped with same-floor drainage systems for easy maintenance. The buildings incorporate “silver-grade” green architecture standards and age-friendly, barrier-free design, ensuring livability for residents of all ages.

According to the Liberty Times, The Water Resources Bureau noted the project’s progress has reached 71.1%, with façade work, interior partitions, and mechanical systems now underway. Lin led a walkthrough with members of the city’s Housing Review Committee to gather feedback and optimize future designs.

Kaohsiung has accelerated its public housing program citywide, with ongoing investments in smart technology, green infrastructure, and community-centered design. The Daliao complex is part of Mayor Chen Chi-mai’s (陳其邁) broader initiative to expand affordable, high-quality housing while improving the city’s overall livability and environmental performance.

Once completed, the project will provide residents with modern, sustainable living spaces in a well-connected neighborhood — reflecting Kaohsiung’s commitment to inclusive urban development and innovation-driven housing solutions.
