Argentine pianist Martha Argerich will lead a chamber music concert at the Pingtung Performing Arts Center (屏東演藝廳) on Nov. 15 as part of the venue’s 10th-anniversary program. The concert, scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m., will also be one of the main events of the 2026 South Wind Music Festival. Argerich will be joined by Belgian violinists Michael Guttman and Yossif Ivanov, as well as Taiwanese violinist William Wei (魏靖儀), who became a co-concertmaster of the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra in May.

Liu’s father told local media that his older son also died last year after riding without a license. He said he had repeatedly warned the 17-year-old not to ride, citing earlier incidents, including one in which he himself had taken a scooter without permission and crashed into a utility pole. Two 35-meter whale kites will make their Taiwan debut at this year’s Cijin Kite Festival, which opens Saturday at Cijin Beach, the Kaohsiung Tourism Bureau said. The 2026 Cijin Kite Festival and Inflatable Water Park will be held July 25 and 26 and Aug. 1 and 2 near Love Gate (鍾愛之門) at Cijin Beach.

A Kaohsiung city councilor has said one of Mayor Chen Chi-mai’s (陳其邁) biggest unfinished goals is the long-delayed effort to bring giraffes to Shoushan Zoo (壽山動物園).
